CANOE KIDS

The Carleton Place Canoe Club offers exciting weekly summer camps for children aged 6-8 (as of January 1st, 2025). Our Canoe and Kayak Kids program provides a fun-filled week of outdoor adventure on the beautiful Mississippi River, teaching water safety essentials and building confidence in flatwater canoeing and kayaking.
Campers will learn how to care for equipment, practice tip-turn-tow techniques, and explore various paddle sport vessels. Each day runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with activities divided into four 90-minute blocks, including 1-2 dryland activities like games and crafts.
Our staff are National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) trained, licensed pleasure craft operators, first aid certified, and experienced paddlers and swimmers. Safety is our top priority, and we foster a fun, social, and cooperative environment throughout the program.

The Carleton Place Canoe Club offers weekly summer camps for children aged 9-13 (as of January 1st, 2025). Our Youth Canoe and Kayak Summer Camp introduces participants to sprint canoeing and kayaking while providing an engaging outdoor experience. Campers will develop water safety skills, confidence, and technique in flatwater paddling, all while enjoying the beauty of the Mississippi River.
Each day runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and includes hands-on training in water safety, equipment care, and tip-turn-tow techniques, as well as practice in various canoes and kayaks. Activities are divided into four 90-minute blocks, with 1-2 blocks dedicated to dryland games, crafts, or team-building exercises.
Led by certified, experienced, and safety-focused staff, the program ensures a fun, social, and supportive environment. All coaches hold National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) credentials, are licensed pleasure craft operators, and are trained in first aid.
Campers who enjoy this program are encouraged to explore our sprint paddling programs, including the competitive stream. Weekly camp fees can be applied to full-summer program registration if participants choose to continue (prorated if not in the first week).

FULL SUMMER CAMPS

These camps provide the perfect opportunity for kids to spend time outdoors, develop water safety skills, and build confidence while paddling on the beautiful Mississippi River.

Programs:

Canoe Kids (Ages 6-8): A fun-filled introduction to paddling, perfect for younger children to learn water safety essentials and basic canoeing and kayaking techniques.

Youth Camp (Ages 9-13): A slightly more advanced program introducing sprint canoeing and kayaking, helping participants develop valuable skills and confidence in a supportive environment.

Qualified Staff:
All camp staff are certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), hold first aid certifications, are licensed pleasure craft operators, and are experienced paddlers and swimmers. INTRODUCTION TO SPRINT

Cost: $535 (includes membership, insurance, and affiliation fees; excludes race or travel fees)

The Carleton Place Canoe Club’s Introduction to Sprint Program is a dynamic 2-week camp designed for youth aged 8-13 (as of January 1, 2025). Perfect for newcomers, this program offers a taste of sprint canoe/kayak without the commitment of a full summer. Participants will work with our certified and experienced coaches to build foundational skills, learn about sprint competition, and develop a passion for this exciting sport.

As part of the program, athletes can test their skills at a local regatta on July 19th. Those eager for more can extend their registration into the full Youth Sprint Program by simply paying the fee difference. Each day includes a mix of sprint canoe/kayak training in singles and crew boats, focusing on technique, fitness, core strength, and speed development, all within a fun and supportive environment.

Program highlights include certified National Coach Certification Program staff, an emphasis on water safety, and a focus on fostering teamwork and technical skill development.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to complete registration, you must submit a signed waiver, code of conduct, concussion code of conduct (for each of your registered participants), and payment in full (prior to the program start date). Our waiver and codes of conduct can be found in the 'Important Info' section of our website, and payment can be made by credit card online (subject to a 3% transaction fee), by cheque (dropped off at the CPCC office) or via email transfer to finance@cpcanoeclub.com.
