PaddleALL is a Canoe Kayak Canada initiative designed to promote participation in sprint canoe and kayak for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Carleton Place Canoe Club’s PaddleALL program introduces participants to flat water paddling using recreational and sprint canoes and kayaks. The program includes a safety orientation, technical instruction, and coaching from experienced, certified coaches. While all abilities are welcome, participants should be comfortable on and around the water.

 

For those who want to challenge themselves, competition opportunities are available. Event details will be shared at the start of the season, but paddlers are encouraged to reach out with questions or express interest in trying a race. The canoe/kayak community in Canada is known for its inclusivity, making PaddleALL and our Special O programs a fantastic way to get outdoors, meet new people, and enjoy some exercise!

The CPCC offers opportunities for individuals with a physical disability to get out on the water and enjoy our beautiful Mississippi River. The sport of sprint canoe/kayak provides opportunities for both recreation and competitive paddling. Race opportunities are available at the local, divisional, provincial, and national level. Para Canoe is also a Paralympic event at the summer games. The video below explains a little bit more about how competitive Paracanoe works.
