- Plan on attending on our " Open House" on Saturday, June 21st 11:00 AM (first day of summer).
- All programs subject to change pending registrations. All racing fees included except divisional, provincial and national championships
- As an organization relying heavily on total participation, a commitment of 10 hours per family with one or more members is required, a $50.00 refundable cheque must be included with registration
Make a Splash! 2008 Programs
The Carleton Place Canoe Club is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of history. Managed by volunteers, we offer a variety of paddling programs which are designed to promote a positive self image, an appreciation for the sport and the spirit of cooperation and fair play. Our programs provide a group environment where beginner and experienced paddlers can develop skills in all boats: single, double, four as well as war canoe and dragon boats. Competitive programs provide the opportunity for all ages to compete in regattas throughout the region, right up to a Provincial and National level.

River Recreation Camp

Ages 10 years old and up (as of December 31st, 2008)
July 2nd - August 15th
Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
(includes supervised lunch hour, 8:00 AM drop off and 5:00 PM pick up)
- Introduction to basic canoe/kayak skills and water safety, one "on-water" session per day
- Additional activities include: basketball, beach volleyball, floor hockey, badminton, swimming
- participation in regattas not required, can lead to competitions if desirable

- Program designed for those who want to limit their participation levels to more of a "team" atmosphere
- Participation limited to War Canoe and/or other small team boats
- Participation in regattas (competitions) is expected

Adult Dragon Boat

Minimum age for participation is 16 years old(as of January 1st, 2008)
- Open to individuals who wish to compete at relatively high level in dragon boat racing
- A crew selection process may be implemented based on registration and commitment
- War canoe and small boat introduction, racing
- Dragon Boat rental available upon request

Competitive (Beginner)

June 2nd - June 27th: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
July 2nd - August 19th: Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

- Program designed for youth who are interested in canoeing and kayaking on a competitive level
- Participation in regattas/competitions is expected
- Athletes will train after school during June and daily throughout the summer
- Summer schedule will be one small boat session and one war canoe or crew boat session per day
- Off water games and other activities also included to emphasize fun, fitness and participation

Competitive (Development)

Ages 12 years old and up (as of December 31st, 2008)
June 4th - June 29th: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
July 2nd - August 17th: Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

- Program designed for athletes who are looking to start training harder with goals of improving general skills in sprint canoe and kayak racing
- The workout schedule will be more intense than the "Beginner" program
- Dry land training will be a regular part of the workout regime
- Participation in regattas/competitions is expected
- Athletes will train after school during June and daily throughout the summer
- Summer schedule will be one small boat session and one war canoe or crew boat session per day

Competitive (High Performance)

Ages 13 & 14 years old (as of December 31st, 2008)
July 2nd - August 21st Summer Session
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
- Experienced paddlers only, based on head coach approval
- Athletes working towards National Championships in single boats
- Training requirements include dry land and war canoe participation
- Rest days/sessions depend on where the regattas fall within the training program
