Canoe Kids
Canoe Kids is a week long day camp experience focused on all aspects of safe paddle sports. Campers ages 6 to 12 years old will be introduced to canoeing, kayaking, dragon boating, water safety, swimming, field sports, movie day, as well as cooperative games and activities.
Throughout the week, campers will explore the Mississippi River with qualified instructors in canoes, kayaks, war canoe and dragon boats, learning the basics of boating safety and developing their paddling skills in a fun and safe environment. Along with other club programs, campers will have a great time challenging their own abilities while developing self-confidence and team work skills.
Campers will learn the fundamentals of paddling through a progressive learning approach. At the completion of the week, campers will be awarded a certificate outlining the skills acquired during camp. Those wishing to continue with additional weeks at the camp and/or join other club programs will build upon these skills to reach higher levels of skill development.
Carleton Place's Canoe Kids Program reinforces important personal skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, building self-confidence, individual excellence and teaches the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle. All of Carleton Place's programs are led by friendly, dependable, knowledgeable and certified staff.

Note: pre-care (8:00 am - 9:00 am) and post-care (4:00 pm - 5:00 pm) is available at $25 per week
Regatta Ready
Regatta Ready is a week long day camp experience focused on all aspects of safe paddle sports. This pre-competitive program is for campers ages 10 to 14 years old who aren't yet ready to commit to a competitive program. Campers will be introduced to canoeing, kayaking, dragon boating, water safety with a progression towards participation in a regional weekend regatta(s). Additional activities include basketball, beach volley ball, road hockey, badminton and swimming.
Throughout the weekly session, campers will explore the Mississippi River with qualified instructors in canoes, kayaks, war canoe and dragon boats, learning boating safety, and developing their paddling/team boat skills in a fun and safe environment. While participating in paddling session with members from our Competitive Program, campers will have a great time challenging their own abilities while developing self-confidence and team work skills.
The program fosters team spirit and provides campers with the opportunity to join members from our Competitive Program in representing the Carleton Place Canoe Club at regional weekend regattas. Participation in regattas is not mandatory.
