Head Coach – Ryan Blair

Ryan has been involved in the sport of Canoe/Kayak since 1991. He was a member of the 1996 Junior National Development Team, winner of multiple National medals and a member of the 2005 World Dragon Boat Team. In 2000, Ryan retired as an athlete to start his coaching career at the Mississauga Canoe Club (Mississauga, ON) on a full time basis. From 2001-2008, Ryan returned to his original club, the West Rouge Canoe Club (Scarborough, ON) as its Head Coach. In 2009, Ryan took on his current role as Head Coach of the Carleton Place Canoe Club (Carleton Place, ON). Ryan has coached multiple athletes who competed at Provincial, National and International Championships.

Ryan’s coaching credentials also include: Ontario Canoe/Kayak Team Manager at the 2001 Canada Summer Games, Canoe/Kayak coordinator at the 2002 Ontario Summer Games, Assistant Provincial Coach at OCSRA’s Spring Training Camp in 2001-2005, 2009-2010, as well as a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) CanoeKids and ELCC course facilitator. “I am very fortunate to be a part of the rich history of the Canoe Club and the community of Carleton Place and look forward to its continued successes on and off the water.”

Ryan’s coaching philosophy is “Everyone can be successful”.
